Mara Fortin: Not Exactly A Cake Walk

Plain and simple, Mara Fortin is a complete and utter inspiration to me. Mara left a lucrative law practice in Las Vegas to pursue a franchise opportunity as the owner and operator of a bakery. A cake bakery. In San Diego. You’re probably thinking…did I read that right?

Cakes in San Diego? Cake. Yeah, right. People told her she was crazy. After all, she had two little girls to take care of. How was she going to make that work? God. That’s how.

She now owns and operates 7 Nothing Bundt Cake stores in the San Diego area and she is a tireless campaigner for small businesses. A few months back, she traveled to Washington DC and gave testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives committee on education in the workforce
